But the fire is so delightful!
The Road in has been getting better but its only going to last until the next snowfall, I am going to be building a small loft in my yurt and possibly bringing out a larger woodstove for heating this winter, time will tell!

kindling, Kitchen, Naptha OH MY!
I fixed my naptha lantern, its much quieter now, and more efficient then that propane one, I still need to get onto a re-chargeable battery system, but that wont be for a few months yet....
Bought a cord of seasoned maple, and cut a bunch of dead dry pine for kindling, kitchen is operational, made a sweet Vege chili this past weekend, would like to finish the Sauna and small Yurt before snow falls.....

Yurt Tour & First guests
I figured I would get some mice, but so soon I was surprised, looks like one has decided to make my Yurt his very nice home!
Here is a little tour of my Yurt, still having water problems, and its sure getting cold, I relise that the firebox in my stove is not big enough to keep a fire going through the night.... I am going to have to start looking into other options

Leaky leaky
Due to some poor planning on my part, while I was away in sudbury today for work my yurt floor flooded fairly good... I rigged somthing up hopefully it works for the time being, its been raining hard for the past 24 hours and has just started to let up now, I am going to be away most of the weekend but will have to make sure everything will be fine before I leave.

Good night yurt
Last night a came out with Dawna to work on my insulation, around midnight her dog started freaking out barking etc, she decided to let him out neither of us thought much of it thinking it was only a deer or bear cub, needless to say vagabond got a mouth full of porcupine, we ended back in town to call the vet, he told us that vaga would be fine if left alone till morning then to bring him in, he got all fixed up today and is certainly a sad doggy, get well soon vagabond!!
Just finished eating a nice oven roasted pasta, and relaxing while the storm rolls in, there is suppose to be crazy winds and rain so I came out to tie down th hatches and see how the yurt holds up.
Goodnight all

Rainy October
Kijiji is one of the best tools for anyone starting/working/or planning any project, I have had so much luck with using this site its unbelievable, including the land I am leasing for this yurt project!! Last week while browsing I found something amazing....
The pedal, the wheels and the machine seem to work great, I am going to clean it out a little then test it out as soon as I can! I have no doubts that it works like a charm!

Yurt down 2011
The most important thing is I completed my large yurt!! I made some mistakes with my math and once it started to go up it turned out to be 18 feet in diameter rather then 24, so I had to readjust a few things…. But its beautiful!!

Day #1
Spent the first night at the farm last night, very happy, this is certainly the life for me! after arriving I unpacked some of the minimal gear I brought; a weeks worth of clothing, books, beeswax candles, sketchbooks, and art supplies, the essentials basically!
My Parents gifted me a chainsaw early for my Birth day, so I am very grateful of this, I also picked up a 30 watt solar panel on sale at Canadian Tire, I am pretty excited to put both of them into action soon! (the chainsaw tonight I hope)
I cant describe how much I love the sound of a crackling fire, the crickets and frogs on a warm spring night, its truly how life is meant to be lived, every day, every moment embraced within nature.

The 2011
Spring has been very kind to me, I have arranged the lease of a 40 acre lot equiped with an off grid cabin, I will be moving in at the end of the week but there is so much to do for summer.... I need to construct at least half a dozen large raised garden planters so that I can grow all of my food for the fall and winter, also need to finish my 24' Diameter yurt so that I can set it all up, I am hoping for June *crosses fingers*
I also made my first real backpacking trip of the season, a 24km round trip into Killarney Park, we had amaizingly nice weather as always, and met up with the Russians from least year's easter weekend!! Certainly looking forward to my next trip, or better yet canoe season!!
